May 2024 - As part of the inaugural National Youth Apprenticeship Week, NYSDOL is increasing awareness about Registered Apprenticeships and pathways into them, including career exploration and pre-apprenticeship programs. Registered Apprenticeship programs are open to individuals as young as 16 years old while they're still in high school.
Youth Apprenticeship Week celebrates the spectrum of work-based learning models, where you can apply classroom learning in a real-world setting surrounded by experts in their field.
Spectrum of Apprenticeship Programs
In November 2024, DOL is launching a campaign to ensure high school students understand what apprenticeship is and how it can prepare them for incredible careers. This includes a poster for schools to hang and a series of Introduction to Apprenticeship presentations. These presentations are aimed at P-12 school leaders, parents, teachers, students, counselors and staff.

Recruitments
This program provides eligible employers with tax incentives for registering new qualified apprentices on or after January 1, 2018.
Sponsors of registered apprenticeship programs can utilize Direct Entry as an option for recruiting apprentices.
The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) offers various grant funding opportunities to help bolster New York's Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
