Our Mission

NYSDOL’s mission is to provide outstanding services to our customers - the workers and businesses that call New York home. We help New Yorkers find the careers they’ll love by connecting them to employment, training, and up-skilling opportunities. We build and support New York’s businesses, helping them find qualified workers and keeping them informed about tools and incentives to make their businesses thrive. We empower and protect New York’s workers by supporting the unemployed and ensuring all workers have a safe workplace where they receive a fair wage.

The benefits available to DOL employees include:

  • Generous time off policies such as paid holidays, personal, vacation, and sick days. Eligible employees can take advantage of telecommuting options and alternative
  • work schedules, enhancing work-life balance.
  • Many affordable healthcare options, with health insurance available after a 28-day waiting period, and dental and vision plans at no extra cost. (enrollment times for
  • dental and vision plans vary by union designation)
  • New York State Retirement System membership and access to the Deferred Compensation Investment Plan.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and various resource groups.
  • Recognition programs and a dynamic intranet with over 3,000 employees.
  • Unique benefits include free college tuition for union members, paid parental leave, and 12 weeks of paid family leave for eligible management/confidential

  • DOL Mentorship Program provides opportunities to develop workplace culture that flourishes on engagement, inclusivity, and collective success!
  • Temporary CSEA and M/C designated employees are immediately eligible for time and attendance benefits. You can use your personal and sick leave accruals starting
  • your first day!
  • Employees in designated traineeships have an opportunity to complete their two-year traineeship program in only 18 months!
  • Professional development available in partnership with Coursera. Employees can dedicate 2 hours each pay period to participate in a class during work hours, with supervisory approval!
