Developments in the Western New York Labor Market
Private sector jobs in the Western New York region increased by 3,200 or 0.6 percent, to 543,400 in the 12 months ending October 2024. The largest gains were in private education and health services (+4,300), mining, logging and construction (+700) and manufacturing (+300). Job losses were centered in professional and business services (-800), trade, transportation and utilities (-400), financial activities (-300), other services (-300) and leisure and hospitality (-200). Government sector jobs increased by (+900) over the year.
