Developments in the Southern Tier Labor Market
The Southern Tier's private sector job count shrank by 1,200, or 0.6 percent, to 216,500 in the year ending November 2024. The largest gains were in mining, logging and construction (+400). Job losses were centered in professional and business services (-700), trade, transportation and utilities (-600), information (-300) and manufacturing (-300). Government jobs increased by (+1,700) over the year.
