Developments in the Southern Tier Labor Market
The Southern Tier's private sector job count grew by 1,000, or 0.5 percent, to 213,500 in the year ending March 2024. Job gains were largest in leisure and hospitality (+1,100), mining, logging and construction (+500) and private education and health services (+300). Job losses were greatest in professional and business services (-500) and trade, transportation and utilities (-400). Government jobs increased by (+1,900) over the year.
