Utica-Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)
Change in Nonfarm Jobs since December 2024

For the 12-month period ending December 2025, the nonfarm job count in the Utica-Rome metro increased +800, or +0.6%, to 124,000.  Private sector employment declined -200, or -0.2%, to 93,100.

Job gains were posted in government (+1,000) and private education and health services (+400).

Job losses occurred in manufacturing (-300) and trade, transportation, and utilities (-300).

The unemployment rate in the Utica-Rome metro increased from 3.7% in December 2024 to 4.0% in December 2025.  The unemployment rate was 3.9% in November.
