Change in Nonfarm Jobs since April 2024

For the 12-month period ending April 2025, the nonfarm job count in the Utica-Rome metro decreased -1,000, or -0.8%, to 121,800.  Private sector employment declined -600, or -0.6%, to 92,000.

Job gains were posted in mining, logging, and construction (+200).

Job losses occurred in manufacturing (-500), government (-400), private education and health services (-400), and professional and business services (-200).

The unemployment rate in the Utica-Rome metro decreased from 3.7% in April 2024 to 3.3% in April 2025. The unemployment rate was 4.2% in March.
