Utica-Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)

Change in Nonfarm Jobs since April 2025

For the 12-month period ending April 2026, the nonfarm job count in the Utica-Rome metro decreased -600, or -0.5%, to 123,500.  Private sector employment grew +200, or +0.2%, to 93,400. 

Job gains were posted in private education and health services (+400),  and leisure and hospitality (+200). 

Job losses occurred in government (-800), professional and business services (-500), and manufacturing (-200).

The unemployment rate in the Utica-Rome metro rose from 3.4% in April 2025 to 3.9% in April 2026.  The unemployment rate was 4.4% in March.
