Developments in the Finger Lakes Labor Market
Private sector jobs in the Rochester metro area rose over the year by 5,600, or 1.3 percent, to 449,500 in April 2023. Gains were centered in private education and health services (+4,100), leisure and hospitality (+1,600), other services (+700), manufacturing (+300), and financial activities (+200). Employment losses were focused in trade, transportation and utilities (-500), natural resources, mining and construction (-300), professional and business services (-300), and information (-200).
