Developments in the Finger Lakes Labor Market
Private sector jobs in the Rochester metro area increased by 6,800 or 1.5 percent, to 450,000 in the year ending March 2024. Job gains were largest in private education and health services (+4,100), leisure and hospitality (+2,500), trade, transportation, and utilities (+1,000), financial activities (+700) and mining, logging and construction (+200). Job losses were greatest in professional and business services (-1,000), information (-400) and manufacturing (-400).
