Employment Projections

Find the expected employment growth and annual openings for all published occupations in New York State and its 10 labor market regions. These 10-year forecasts, which are updated every other year, are intended to help individuals make informed education and career decisions and assist educators and training providers in planning for future needs. Included with our long-term occupational projections are these important supplementary data series:

• Annual wages (mean, median, entry and experienced levels)
• Measures of education and training
• Employment prospects
• Comparison of New York State and U.S. occupational growth rates

Short-term occupational projections are used for career counseling, economic development and other state planning. Projections offer additional information on annual wages (mean, median, entry and experienced), and measures of education. Data are currently available for all published occupations in New York State.

Statewide projections cover the 2023-2025 period. Employment data from the 2nd quarter of 2023 was used as the base period for the occupational projections.

Long-term industry employment projections represent a valuable data source for those interested in future employment trends. Data are currently available for approximately 90 industries (at the 3-digit NAICS industry level). Our Statewide projections and Regional projections cover the 2020-2030 time period.
