Overview
In 2024, NYSDOL created the Office of Workforce Data and Research (OWDR) by mandate from Governor Kathy Hochul. Our mission is to forecast the future of work, empowering New York State to make informed decisions on funding allocation to advance and empower the future of our state’s workforce. OWDR will develop a cross-agency State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS), connecting and leveraging data from educational institutions, employers, and workforce development programs. Utilizing our workforce, educational and apprenticeship data, OWDR will generate models identifying growth areas and track workforce development outcomes.
