Yvonne Martinez, Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Strategy and Research
In her role as the Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Strategy and Research, Yvonne leads a team of policy advisors, economists, statisticians and researchers to provide analytical support, policy advice, and labor market expertise to the Commissioner of Labor as well as to a wide variety of external stakeholders. Recent areas of focus for Yvonne and her team include the State’s minimum wage, pay equity, the child care industry, and the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund.
Career Background: Prior to joining NYSDOL, Yvonne spent over 20 years with the Office of the State Comptroller. She held various leadership roles within the Division of Local Government and School Accountability and oversaw annual financial reporting, local official training, and policy research activities.
Education: Yvonne holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
