Many services are available to support older adults.

Dial 211 or go to 211.org for caregiver resources, mental health services, crisis and emergency, food programs and benefits and housing and utilities.

Contact Aging Connect (NYC)
Aging Connect is the New York City Department for the Aging's information and referral contact center for older adults and their families. Callers are referred to resources, services and opportunities in their community.

To reach Aging Connect, call 212-AGING-NYC (212-244-6469). For additional information about City programs, call 311.

NY Connects
Access to free, objective, comprehensive information and assistance on long term services and supports for people of all ages or with any type of disability.

New York Foundation for Senior Citizens
Dedicated to helping New York’s older adults enjoy healthier, safer, more productive and dignified lives in their homes and communities and to help them avoid the need for premature institutionalization.

Video tutorial to help older adults apply for benefits for older adults
NYSOFA has worked with partners to produce a series of video tutorials to help older adults apply for some of the most common benefits like Medicare, HEAP, EPIC, STAR tax rebates, SNAP food assistance, and more.

Medicare Savings Program
The Medicare Savings Program, or MSP, is estimated to save Medicare beneficiaries an average of up to $7,000 annually.

Find your Community's Area Agency on Aging
Find support to help older New Yorkers maintain their health and independence. AAAs provide important services such as home delivered meals, nutrition, counseling, caregiver support services, and much more.

Legal Aid Society (Northeastern)
Provides free legal services to low-income people. Serving 16 counties in Northeastern New York.

Legal Aid Society (NYC)
Serving customers in the five boroughs.

Age-Friendly Neighborhood Resources
The New York City Council community support for technology, devices and internet connectivity resources.

Medicare/Insurance Counseling
More than 500 trained HIICAP counselors located in local offices for the aging across the state are available to answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Advantage programs (managed care), Medicare prescription drug coverage, Medigap, and other health and long-term care insurance issues.

SNAP-Ed: Nutrition Education
SNAP-Ed NY is a statewide program that teaches people how to shop for and cook healthy meals on a limited budget.

Combating Social Isolation
Social isolation affects older adults and people of all ages. For older adults facing isolation, NYSOFA has a 50-year track record of services, supports, and interventions, including many nation-leading program innovations.
