Steamfitters Recruit Apprentices

The Joint Steamfitting Apprenticeship and Training Committee Local Union #638 will conduct a recruitment from June 3, 2024 through June 14, 2024 for 350 Steamfitter apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

NOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE HANDED OUT IN PERSON.

Applications can be obtained by sending a letter via Registered Mail to Steamfitters Training Center, 48-03 32nd Place, Long Island City, NY 11101. Requests will be accepted for 10 business days or until 1,000 registered letters are received, whichever comes first. Letters must not be postmarked earlier than June 3, 2024 and no later than June 14, 2024. The letter should include the requester's name and address. Letters sent by certified mail will not be accepted. Applicants should retain the post office receipt for their registered letter as proof of mailing. Do not enclose any documents or money when mailing the registered letter.

All registered letters postmarked June 3, 2024 will receive an application, even if the number of letters postmarked that date exceeds 1,000. The recruitment will then be closed, after which no more letters will be accepted. The same applies if the total amount is not reached on each successive day leading up to June 14, 2024. All requests for applications must be postmarked no later than June 14, 2024.

Applications will be mailed in July 2024 to those who are eligible. Each letter requesting an application will be sent ONE application. Requestors who receive an application must pay a non-refundable $25 application fee (instructions for payment of fees will be in the actual application). NOTE: You may request that this fee be waived if you can provide verifiable proof of financial need, when submitting your completed application.
