Most likely you’re here because you’re looking for a better job or are helping someone else find a better job. We use the term “occupational mobility” to describe what you’re doing. This dashboard is designed to help you find a path forward. It can help you identify and compare various paths to advance your career and to find a better-paying job.
We analyzed the tasks performed for each occupation to rate how similar each job is to other occupations. We called this number a “similarity score,”. The similarity scores range from 0 (meaning the two occupations being compared have nothing in common) to 100 (meaning the two occupations being compared are pretty much identical). Occupations with similarity scores of 80 or over are considered “transferable.”

First, select your region, your current or expected education level, current occupation, and the minimum annual salary you’re looking for.
After making these selections, the dashboard will show you which occupations are most similar and pay a higher median wage than your current job or the minimum annual salary you selected.
You can sort the table by employment level, similarity score, annual openings, median wage, or projected growth by clicking the drop-down menu above the table on the far right.
If you see an occupation that interests you, click on the occupation to see a list of relevant skills. On this page, you can also click the ‘See available jobs for X’ to search for related jobs in the New York State Job Bank.
