Overview

The New York State Department of Labor publishes monthly jobs and labor force data.

The first release each month falls on Thursday, and the second release falls on the following Tuesday. The one exception is the second release for April 2026, which falls on a Wednesday (May 27, 2026), due to Memorial Day.

First Release (First Thursday of Month)

  • Jobs Data: NYS, Metro Areas and Counties Outside of Metro Areas: Jobs data by industry for New York State, metro areas, and counties outside of metro areas.
  • Labor Force and Unemployment Data: NYS, NYC, and Balance of State(Thursday): Labor force data (including unemployment rates) for New York State, New York City, and the Balance of State (NYS outside of NYC) region.

Second Release (Second Tuesday of Month)

Labor Force and Unemployment Data: Regions, Metro Areas, and All Counties: Labor force data (including unemployment rates) for regions, metro areas, all counties, and municipalities of at least 25,000 people.
